ABOUT THE NOVEL

This contest is a contest within the larger framework of the Novel Film Trailer Competition, open to Contestants participating in the larger contest, and also to actors who may or may not be involved in the larger contest.

Steps and Particulars:

• Audition Contestants, either by intention or as a matter of course, must produce an audition video composed of actors dramatizing roles within YEAR OF THE RHINOCEROS, the novel chosen for this first competition. A sample audition video can be viewed here: BABS ON HIGH (though it most likely would not have won a contest, we nevertheless use it as an example).
• Contestants ARE ENCOURAGED TO CREATE their own scripts adapted from the Novel Scene Guide.
• Contestants may also use the current scripts for BAD BOSS THEORY and BABS ON HIGH.
• Contestants must post the audition video on YouTube, or another web-based service that allows viewing and embedding of films on the web.
• Contestants must inform the NFT Competition by email at novelfilmtrailer@webdelsol.com when the audition film is available for viewing, also providing the link..
• Audition videos will be judged solely on the basis of the quality of the acting and overall presentation.
• After preliminary judging by the Sponsors, to take place every two weeks until the end of the contest, semi-finalists will be contacted and must post their audition videos at The Book Trailer Blog, a blog created just for Contestants in the NFT Competition.
• A final winner and honorable mentions will be announced by May 15, 2008.
• Winner will receive $500.00 and will have the video and bio information, etc., displayed permanently on the NovelFilmTrailer.Com website.
• Five honorable mentions will have their videos. bios, etc. displayed permanently on the NovelFilmTrailer.Com website.
• Placement in this contest will in no way jeopardize results or bias judges in the final selections of the main Novel Film Trailer Competition.

Rights, Fees, Etc.

There is no fee required, no forms to fill out, and no grant of rights other than non-exlusive right to NFT Competition and Sponsors to display and embed the videos.
